Tudeh Party of Iran: Israel’s Criminal Attacks on Lebanon Aim to Undermine the Temporary Ceasefire and to continue the war to destroy Iran
The criminal attacks by Netanyahu’s government against Lebanon, following the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic Republic, have triggered a wide wave of international condemnation. These attacks are clearly aimed at disrupting the peace negotiations process in the region.
According to global news agencies and statements by Israeli military spokespersons, Israel carried out 100 airstrikes on Lebanon last night, resulting in the deaths of more than 250 people and leaving around 1,200 injured. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun described these attacks as a “massacre.” Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, stated: “Israel’s actions are putting significant pressure on the ceasefire between the United States and Iran. The ceasefire with Iran must also be extended to Lebanon.” She added: “Hezbollah drew Lebanon into the war, but Israel’s right to self-defense does not justify such destruction.”
Leaders of the Islamic Republic, while condemning these crimes by the Israeli government, have made the start of peace negotiations conditional upon a ceasefire in Lebanon. Baghaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that—as also emphasized by the Prime Minister of Pakistan—the cessation of hostilities on the Lebanese front is one of the components of the ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States, and that today’s crimes by the Zionist regime against Lebanon constitute a clear violation of this understanding. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also described Israel’s recent attacks on Lebanon as a “clear violation of the initial ceasefire agreement,” stating that “Iran will never abandon its Lebanese brothers and sisters.” In a post on the social platform X, he further characterized Israel’s actions as a “dangerous sign of deception and non-compliance with potential agreements.”
Our Party has repeatedly emphasized that Netanyahu’s criminal government represents the greatest threat to peace and stability in the region. It seeks the continuation and expansion of the war to Iran, with the aim of destroying our homeland and implementing regime change by installing proxies such as Reza Pahlavi.
The Tudeh Party of Iran, while once again emphasizing that the declaration of a ceasefire can be a step toward achieving lasting peace, believes that every effort must be made to resist the malicious plans of Netanyahu’s government to sabotage the ceasefire and drag Iran and the United States into a large-scale and devastating war. Our homeland has already endured significant human and material losses during more than a month of continuous bombardment by U.S. imperialism and the Israeli government. The continuation of this situation would constitute a major catastrophe for the country’s future.
