Statement of the Tudeh Party of Iran: War Crimes of US Imperialism in the Third Military Aggression against Iran and the Necessity of Confronting the Destructive Policy of “War, War Until Victory”

Once again, the destructive war imposed by US imperialism has placed our homeland in serious danger. The brutal attacks by American military forces on Iran, targeting civilian areas such as communication bridges, railway lines, and airports, as well as attacks on wheat storage silos in Hoveyzeh County, the attack on the mineral water production plant in the Musian district of Dehloran County, and the attack on the Chabahar maritime watchtower, aimed at disrupting the provision of aid to fishermen and undermining the security of maritime trade, are, according to international law, examples of war crimes committed by American imperialism. These crimes have resulted in the deaths and injuries of a large number of our compatriots in the attacks of recent days.

The latest round of American military attacks on Iran marks a new stage in imperialism’s policy in the region, a policy that aims to completely control the Strait of Hormuz and key waterways in the region to secure the strategic interests of imperialism and Israel. It is clear that the warmongers in Washington and their allies in the criminal Israeli government opposed any agreement between Iran and the United States from the very beginning and want a destructive, attritional war with Iran to destroy our country’s infrastructure. Another great danger of these conflicts could be that they provide a pretext for US imperialism’s military operations against Iran and the occupation of parts of the oil regions and the south of the country.

In an interview on the Joe Rogan Express podcast, US Vice President JD Vance claimed that a “covert and very expensive” campaign has been launched to defeat the US-Iran talks. He said it was organised by “Israeli actors” and that their goal is to continue the war with Iran “indefinitely”.

In this context, it is clear that the “war merchants” in Iran are also those who oppose the “agreement” with the United States and, by making exaggerated claims about Iran’s military superiority, are actually working towards rebuilding the regime’s destructive and anti-national policy of “war, war until victory” (in the war with Saddam’s regime), an anti-national policy that ultimately caused serious damage to our homeland, with Khomeini drinking the “poison cup” and the subsequent killing of thousands of political prisoners in the crime of the national catastrophe of 1988. In this context, according to Khabar Online, the newspaper ” Jomhuri Eslami” also warns about “war merchants”: “The recommendation to close “Bab al-Mandab” and the insistence on closing the Strait of Hormuz reveal the intentions of foreigners who present themselves as friends and insiders. In order to protect the country from the scourges of war and the negative consequences of extremism, the country’s officials must deal seriously with the influential elements of foreign and false governments so that Iran is not once again dragged to the brink of war.” The Tudeh Party of Iran announced in recent weeks that the war and external threats are an opportunity for the hard core of power in the Islamic Republic to rebuild the worn-out authority of the crisis-ridden regime. For these forces, continuing military conflicts within a framework that does not pose an “existential” threat to the regime’s existence is a suitable condition for the continuation of the current situation, including suppressing any voice of opposition, continuing to impose the current catastrophic socio-economic conditions, poverty, deprivation and widespread unemployment on millions of workers and toilers in our homeland, lack of electricity and water, and continuing repression and executions under the pretext of war conditions in the country.

The latest public-opinion survey in Iran, conducted by the Islamic Republic itself, shows that the overwhelming majority of our people are against the continuation of the war and the current situation, and want to reach an agreement and lasting peace.

In our view, the continuation of the current situation and the escalation of war and military operations are undoubtedly against national interests and align with the strategic policies of American imperialism and the criminal Israeli regime in the region.

Mobilising public opinion in Iran and around the world, and working to end today’s destructive military conflicts, are among the most important tasks of the country’s progressive and freedom-loving forces. The efforts of the country’s progressive and freedom-loving forces to reflect the legitimate demands of the majority of society, whose lives are being crushed by poverty and oppression, and to prepare the ground for a nationwide movement against war and warmongers, and against the aggressive policies of American and Israeli imperialism in the region, whose ultimate goal is to perpetuate the current crisis and push Iran towards new destructive military confrontations, are urgent and vital.
