(Excerpts from "Nameh Mardom", Central Organ of the Tudeh Party of Iran No. 962, 24th Dec 2014)
The political developments in the nation (Iran) during the past year have been accelerated and have found new dimensions. Extending the negotiations with the “5+1” states and the movement in the direction of achieving political agreements have been the news headlines in recent weeks. The move to establish new relations with the US and the EU in the framework of the so-called "heroic flexibility" of the Supreme religious Leader is accompanied with certain policies at home and in relation with the people’s movement, which cannot be easily ignored.
The 2nd plenary meeting of the central committee of the Tudeh Party of Iran after the 6th congress was held in November 2014. The meeting began by signing the party’s anthem and observing a moment of silence in the honor, and to remember, all those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and social justice.
On Tuesday 16th of December, the band of Islamic terrorists who call themselves the ‘Pakistani Taleban’ created a humanitarian tragedy in an armed attack. The attack - perpetrated by the backward, criminal Islamic Taleban - on a school in Peshawar, left 141 people murdered, including 132 pupils and 9 teachers.
Tudeh Party of Iran expresses its most sincere greetings to the “Cuban 5” and for the liberation of the three Cuban patriots Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández and Ramón Labañino, who spent the last 16 years in the prisons of the United States. The Cuban heroes, part of the internationally known “Cuban 5” now join their compatriots, René González and Fernando González who were released in October 2011 and February 2014, respectively, after serving their jail time.
The freedom of the “Cuban 5” is a massive victory for the relentless campaign by the Socialist Cuba, Cuban people and the wives and children and families of the detained patriots who never gave up hope of bringing them back home.
Tudeh Party of Iran Strongly Condemns Criminal Methods of Intimidation and Suppression
According to the media reports on 16th October 2014, serial acid attacks on women in the city of Esfahan boiled peoples’ anger over, which led to a protest gathering in front of the Esfahan’s Prosecutor’s Office. As usual, the prosecutor and other officials at the provincial and national level tried to hide the connection between these crimes and their own reactionary social-cultural policies. They promised immediate investigation of these criminal activities and cries of “catch them”, “lock them” were raised from the mouthpiece of every state institute and officials’ mouth, in order to perhaps pour cold water on peoples’ blazing anger.
It has been almost four months since the brave people of the Kurdish city of Kobanê in the North Western Syria and close to that country’s borders with Turkey have been resisting- as real symbols of a popular struggle- the attacks and barbarism of ISIS. Kobanê is a small city, but the background of the tragedy which is taking place in this city, must be sought in the George Bush government’s policy of aggression and military invasion of Iraq in 2003; it exposes the inhumane logic and goals of the “humanitarian” interventions of imperialist countries in the Middle East region- a policy which is still pursued and implemented by the United States government in the framework of the “New Middle East” plan.

After Wien 5 talks, Hassan Rouhani made the following comments regarding the significance of restoring the relations between Islam Republic of Iran and Imperialism: “…The final agreement with 5+1 is one of the greatest political agreements in the region and the world.” In fact, that is the case and resolving the nuclear issue with West- and with the US in particular- will initiate a new phase in the relations between the theocratic regime of Iran and imperialism, and particularly the United States…
THE FIRST-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE “PRUDENCE AND HOPE” GOVERNMENT: EMPTY PROMISES, PURSUING THE SAME DISASTROUS POLICIES AND CONTINUING SUPPRESSION AND REPRESSION!
(From "Nameh Mardom", Central Organ of the Tudeh Party of Iran No. 949, 16th June 2014)
The experience of the last year proved that the main task of the popular movement is not to resort to illusions and subjective analyses and have hopes in this or that faction of the regime, but to advance a tireless and watchful struggle to revive the movement and the ranks of the social movement. - FROM Tudeh News No. 284
Along with other peace-loving and progressive forces around the world, the Tudeh Party of Iran believes that no reason or excuse can justify the kidnapping and horrendous murder of the three Israeli teenagers and, naturally, all those who committed this crime must be brought to justice. At the same time, we strongly condemn Israel’s action in the mass punishment of a nation by committing atrocious crimes such as bombarding a village and killing 18 women and children and other Palestinian civilians.
Tudeh Party of Iran strongly condemns the arrest of trade union activists on the International Workers’ Day!
According to published reports, during the May Day celebration the security and repressive forces of the regime, in clear violation of the labour law and international standards, arrested a number of the country’s workers and trade union activists, and took them to detention centers.
Hand in hand for eradicating poverty and deprivation, for social justice and trade union rights, and to intensify the struggle against the despotic theocratic regime of Iran!
